It was agreed that the level II proposal for
Communicative Disorders should be put aside until the routine curriculum items
are approved.

The committee considered the issue of online
course approval/review. Traditional
courses are reviewed for content not quality of instruction or teaching
methods, so any review of online courses would do the same. Currently traditional courses that are
offered online are approved by the department.
ASCRC does not want to add another layer of bureaucracy to the
process. Guidelines for faculty
developing online courses would be helpful.
It was moved that the new subcommittee of the Academic IT Advisory Committee be
charged with developing guidelines and best practices for online courses.

There will be no meeting next week to allow
subcommittees time to work on curriculum proposals.
