that will update the rubrics of the special topics courses designed for the
experimental Energy Technology program was approved.
Business & Journalism
Subcommittee
Accounting and Finance addressed the prerequisite questions and the
proposals were approved. The proposal
for MED 217 was withdrawn. Still pending are the program modifications that
included MED 217 T. Consideration of the
Management and Marketing Certificates will be postponed until after the
guidelines are approved.
Forestry &
Biomedical Sciences
The instructor of Introduction to Cancer
Biology agreed to teach it as an experimental course this summer. PHRM 578 Portfolio Assessment
and APPE Orientation will be offered for credit / no credit, so it was
approved.
Education &
Fine Arts
All items on the summary were approved with the exception of the repeatability
increase for DRAM 107A, Theatre
Production Crew I: Construction and EDLD
295 Special Topics. The subcommittee questioned the need for
a general education course to be repeatable three times and the interest of
graduate programs to offer under graduate courses. Clarification and syllabi
will be requested.
Humanities
Several Items on the summary require clarification from the department. Film Studies is requesting ENFM 381 Studies in Film be repeatable for up to 12 credits. This seems excessive. The committee questioned how this would fit in with the students’ course of study and why it was necessary. The Program would also like special topics courses to be set up, but did not supply sample syllabi. The English Department is establishing an Introduction to Literary Studies (ENLT 201) course specifically for majors. However the course is a pre or co-requisite for two new revised courses offered for general education – Literary and Artistic Studies. General education courses should be available to all majors so this was a contradiction and will need to be clarified by the department. Therefore ENLT 201, 217L, 218L, 219L, 222L and 223L were not approved. There was also a question on the title change of HIST UG 376. It seems to suggest a significant change in the course content. Therefore a syllabus will be requested. The other items up to History on the summary were approved.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:00 p.m.
