2004 Center Reviews

Six centers were scheduled for review this year:

Wilderness Institute (1976)

Rural Institute on Disabilities (1978)

Center for Work-Based Learning (1980)

Clinical Psychology Center (1983)

Broadcast Media Center (1984)

Maureen and Mike Mansfield Center (1983)

The Maureen and Mike Mansfield Center was granted a delay in the submittal of their center review, so ECOS reviewed a total of five centers this year.  This is the second year of reviews as required by Academic Policy 100.0 (Periodic Review of Centers).  The reviews are an ongoing effort, which is designed to assure Centers are fulfilling their stated purpose and are justified in their use of academic funding.

The model for Center reviews this year follows guidelines and forms generated by last year’s subcommittee.  Reviews were submitted from each center using a form that requested the following specific information:

Purpose and history

Program description and Objectives

Activities

Other Organizations involved

Relationships with Academic Units

Similar Programs in state and region

Budget-Income, expenditures and funding sources

Personnel

Needs

It was the committee’s intent to clarify and unify the reports, giving each center a framework with which to assemble their information, so they may be studied fairly and honestly.  It is the belief of this committee that the forms were successful and the Centers should continue to use the existing form in next year’s review process.
