The full committee will not meet next week to allow the workgroups to utilize the time. The workgroups might identify the items that are consistent but also emphasize the differences. At the last meeting a motion passed to include an Indian Education for All course in each model.  This will need to be added to the Citizenship model and the Modified model.

It was asked how the Indian Education for All Requirement was progressing through the Commissioner of Higher Education.  The Regents have tabled the Indian Education for All issue until it is known whether higher education will receive funding.  The priority at this point is to offer service for K-12 teachers.  Including the course in the models is a proactive approach.  Kate Shanley is working on a campus plan that will be submitted to the Provost this week.

The committee agreed that the General Education Task Force’s model will not be presented as an option because of the feasibility issues.  The committee was charged with evaluating the model.  The advantages / disadvantages document will show adequate consideration.

At this point the upper-division writing assessment will remain in the models unless a recommendation for a change comes from the writing committee.

The meeting was adjourned.
