Chair Eglin called the meeting to order at 3:10 PM.

The minutes from 4/25/05 were amended and approved.

Communication:

§    The Provost has invited several members of the Committee to a General Education Conference over the summer in Ashville.

§    The Committee might think about a summer retreat at either Lubreicht or Yellow Bay.  Camie will look into possible venues.

§    Chair Eglin thanked the committee members for all of their hard work this semester.

New Business:

§    The committee discussed the draft report to the Senate.  Chair Eglin is planning to provide a verbal report and the draft document is his thoughts on paper.  The committee provided feedback and made recommendations regarding next year’s objectives.  The report could also include a brief summary of the issues the committee considered this semester such as the fall-out from the legislative audit and how to accommodate the MUS core.

§    There was some discussion regarding the committee structure.  The requirement that the chair be a member of ASCRC may be problematic in electing a vice-chair, because there is usually only one member on both committees. Perhaps the committee can suggest that the member from ASCRC on the General Education committee will act as a liaison to ASCRC but is not required to be chair.

The meeting was adjourned.
