The Flathead Lake Biological Station is a Center
of Excellence within The University of Montana. As part of our mission,
we strive to educate local residents and visitors on the scientific
aspects of Flathead Lake and the surrounding watershed.
We offer self-guided tours of the grounds, including
the FLBS museum, displays in Elrod Hall, a beach walk along Flathead
Lake to Yellow Bay point, and a one-mile nature trail loop through
old-growth forest. Handouts are available to help educate visitors
on local plant and animal life within the Flathead Lake ecosystem.
We have recently added a
Virtual Tour to this website. Whether you are a student looking for information for your upcoming academic session or a conference organizer reviewing facilities for your planned conference, check out this site to learn more about our facilities and the Biological Station layout.
For larger groups, guided tours may be available.
Please contact
us in advance of your planned visit to check on available times
and dates.
