About Ke

Ke joined Flathead Lake Biological Station (FLBS) and the Numerical Terradynamic Simulation Group (NTSG), The University of Montana, in 2005 as a Ph.D. student under the guidance of Dr. John S. Kimball. Ke received his Ph.D. in May, 2009 and is now working at FLBS and NTSG as a research scientist. His research mainly focuses on the terrestrial cycling of carbon and water in the regional and global scales and the impacts of global climate change on hydrological and ecological processes by applying satellite remote sensing, and hydrological and ecological modeling.

Ke's Curriculum Vitae

Professional Experience and Education

  • Ph.D.      Organismal Biology & Ecology, University of Montana, USA, 2009
  • M.Eng.    Hydrology, Hohai University, China, 2005
  • B.Eng.    Hydrology (honors), Hohai University, China, 2002

Research Interests

Ke’s research interests involve water and carbon cycling in terrestrial ecosystems, remote sensing, hydrological and ecosystem process modeling, and climate changes. His Ph.D. research focused on the cycling of water and carbon in the Pan-Arctic region and the effects of climate changes on ecosystem productivity and regional water balance using satellite remote sensing.

His current work is to develop a satellite-based algorithm to quantify land surface energy fluxes and water fluxes, produce a long-term record of land surface evapotranspiration, and analyze the effects of climate change on the surface energy and water balance.
