Peter A. Dea is Chief Executive Officer, President and a member of the Board of Directors of Western Gas Resources, Inc., Denver, Colorado since 2001. Mr. Dea has 22 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He had served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Barrett Resources Corporation until August 2001 where he had held several other executive positions at Barrett since 1994 including Executive Vice President - Exploration. Prior to joining Barrett, Mr. Dea served as President of Nautilus Oil and Gas Company and held various management and geologic positions for Exxon Company USA.

Mr. Dea serves on the Board of Trustees for the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation, Western State College and the American Geologic Institute Foundation.

In addition to receiving geology degrees from the University of Montana, M.S. and Western State College, B.A., Mr. Dea also attended the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program.

Mr. Dea is a certified Petroleum Geologist in Wyoming and a member of the Colorado Oil and Gas Association (President, 2001), Independent Petroleum Association of Mountain States, American Association of Petroleum Geologists, Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists, American Alpine Club, American Whitewater Association, Volunteers of Outdoor Colorado and the Nature Conservancy.
