Altyn Tagh, Xinjiang

The Altyn Tagh fault, like the Karakorum Fault, is counted as a major boundary of the Tibetan Plateau, kinematically, rheologically, and topographically. The rate of slip accumulation on this feature is a critical piece of evidence in determining the quality of regional dynamics.
