I am interested in processes that control the mobility and bioavailability of arsenic and heavy metals in the environment. Several of my studies focused on the fate of arsenic in a variety of ecosystems such as constructed wetlands or hydrothermal springs in Yellowstone National Park. More recently, my research focus has shifted toward ecosystem-wide effects of contaminants. We started exciting research projects that look at heavy metals exposure in birds of prey such as ospreys and eagles as these top-of-the-food-chain predators can tell us about the general health of the ecosystems they live in.
