Thesis project:     Hydrology of a Snowmelt-dominated Watershed

I will be working on studying runoff in snowmelt-dominated basins in the Northwest. Climatic variability affects the amount and distribution of precipitation as well as the timing of snowmelt.

I will be investigating the effects of natural climate variability as well as the effects of our warming climate on snowmelt runoff. Can a significant trend in snowmelt timing due to a warming trend be extracted through the “noise” of our climate’s natural variability?

Hobbies

I grew up in Libby, Montana and love all of the opportunities that MT offers. Camping is a big part of my life at anytime of the year – hiking, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

This is my idea of a perfect day spent fly-fishing and swimming. I love the water and spend about all summer in it – but I’m not against a good polar bear jump either!

Although Montana is my favorite place, I love to travel – and don’t get to do near enough of it in my opinion - hopefully, more education will make me the money to do it!
