Jeanne Loftus, Director
Jeanne is originally from Minneapolis and moved to Montana for her undergraduate studies in anthropology. Her academic focus led her to study abroad in New Zealand and concentrate on Maori Studies. The experience abroad changed her worldview and gave her a passion for international education as well as a travel bug. Before joining the Global Leadership Initiative, Jeanne spent 7 years working in UM’s International Programs office. She supported both faculty and students in their international endeavors, assisted international students coming to UM, and worked with the University’s international partner institutions.
Her time outside of work is spent enjoying Montana’s great outdoors and, depending on the season, she can be found backpacking, boating or boarding. When she’s not taking advantage of what Montana has to offer, she is mapping out her next international adventure. You are welcome to contact her at Jeanne.Loftus@umontana.edu or 406-243-5679.
Ashley Widtfeldt, Program Coordinator
Ashley is originally from Boston, but moved to Montana in 2008 to participate in AmeriCorps. She completed two years of AmeriCorps in the Missoula community, working first with the Montana Campus Compact and then with The Office for Civic Engagement. Before moving to Montana, she was heavily involved in civic engagement opportunities as an undergraduate at the University of Connecticut, where she worked for both the Office of Community Outreach and the Human Rights Institute. She has a strong passion for community involvement and is very knowledgeable about the opportunities that exist within Missoula.
In her free time, she can usually be found working in her community garden plot that she rents from Garden City Harvest (a local nonprofit), out in the community volunteering for a cause she feels strongly about or off in the woods on a hike. If you have questions about anything GLI related, feel free to e-mail her or call her at 406-243-6869.
