Meet the Fellows

GLI Fellows are a broadly reprsentative group of students at the University of Montana. Fellows come from as close by as down the street from campus to as far away as the other side of the globe. They are academically engaed in the humanities, the hard sciences, business and everything in between. Take a look at who some of our Fellows are and what they have to say about the program:

Major: Theatre/Anthropology (Global Public Health minor)
Hometown: Kamuela, HI
Favorite part of GLI: In a roundabout way, I got a minor out of it! My Freshman Seminar class was Issues in Global Public Health, and even though the class was difficult, I had a lot of moments that were 'oh, there's a job where I can do that?' The class was so small that I made a lot of friends, one of whom I now live with, and several that I still talk to, and we're planning on doing our Capstone Project together.
Most excited about: It's awesome being the first class of this program. My friends and I were talking about the senior Capstone Project and we were so excited that I think we kind of forgot that it was for school...but that's the best case scenario isn't it? To love what you learn so much that you forget it's actually work?

Major: Resource Conservation
Hometown: Littleton, CO
Favorite part of GLI: The ability of the program to encourage interdisciplinary work through community interaction. I appreciate the free flow of communication, feedback and support between fellows and faculty.
Most excited about: My off-campus experience and the opportunity to present "global" as a state of mind rather than a geographic label. By exploring the Swan Valley of Montana through a two month field course, I will learn first hand how the land operates and the interaction the local community has with the provided resources.

Major: Literature and Creative Writing
Hometown: Helena, Montana
Favorite part of GLI: The opportunity to meet people you likely wouldn't meet otherwise. I have met so many excellent people thanks to GLI. I also love travelling so GLI is a perfect fit with my study abroad plan.
Most excited about: Studying in Cork next year. I love Ireland! I can't wait to live there next year and get started on research for my Capstone Project
