Sponsored International Programs

UM has extensive experience designing and managing sponsored international student programs. These programs have been for all academic levels and different durations (short-term, semester or year-long study abroad, and degree-seeking), and can be tailored to address the program's respective area of academic emphasis. The University's International Program Development Officer designed and manageed these programs, and its International Student Program Specialist provides intensive advising to their participants.  Examples of sponsored international student programs that the University has administered include:

USAID ‘Training for Pakistan’ program

Scholarship program for graduate-level students from Pakistan to achieve a graduate degree

Scholarship program for Egyptian students to study in the U.S. for one semester

U.S. Dept. of State ‘Global Undergraduate Pakistan’ program

Scholarship program for Pakistani students to study in the U.S. for one semester
Managed in collaboration with the International Exchange and Research Board.

U.S. Department of State ‘Muskie Fellows’ Program

Scholarship program for graduate-level students from former USSR countries to study in the U.S. for one year
Managed in collaboration with the International Exchange and Research Board.

Brazilian Government Science Mobility Program

Scholarship program for Brazilian students to study in the U.S. for one year
Managed in collaboration with the Institute of International Education.

Iraqi Scholar Rescue Fund Program

Program to place threatened Iraqi academics at U.S. universities
Managed in collaboration with the Institute of International Education.

India Institutional Academic Partnership Program (IAPP)

Year-long program for U.S. universities to learn about the Indian education system and develop partnerships.
Managed in collaboration with the Institute of International Education.
