Admission Semester(s) and Application Deadline(s):
- Fall - Priority will be given to complete application packets received by February 1. Complete application packets received after this date will be considered on a space available basis
- Spring - Priority will be given to complete application packets received by November 1. Complete application packets received after this date will be considered on a space available basis
Deadline(s) if also Applying for Assistantship:
- Complete application packet must be received by February 1
Test Requirements:
- GRE - prefer scores not more than 5 years old
- GRE - prefer combined verbal and quantitative above 300 (or 1000 on the exam scaled from 200-800 points) and 3.5 analytical writing
- The TOEFL, IELTS or MELAB are also required of international applicants
- All official test scores must be sent directly to the UM Graduate School
The following "Additional Application Materials" must be mailed directly to the department (address below):
- Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
- Three (3) letters of recommendation which attest to your academic performance if not submitted through the online application (We prefer electronic submission through the Admission Application. If electronic method is used there is no need to send paper copies to the department.)
- A one-page statement outlining the reasons for seeking a master's degree in communication studies
- Applicants are required to submit samples of their best work
