UM Toastmasters can help you develop the abilities and confidence you need to effectively express yourself in any situation.
Our campus group of UM graduate students and staff is an enjoyable way to learn to formulate and express your ideas competently, and improving your communication skills opens an entirely new world of possibilities. You'll be more persuasive and confident when giving presentations, and you'll improve your one-on-one dealings with others.
Shy? Nervous when you are in front of an audience? Don't worry! All of us in UM's Multicultural Toastmasters club have been there! Toastmasters' friendly, relaxed, supportive, and self-paced program enables you to build speaking confidence, and you'll love the applause you earn! At first you'll be applauded for your effort; later you'll be applauded for your skill.
Constructive evaluation is the heart of the Toastmasters program. Each time you give a prepared speech, an evaluator will point out strengths and suggest improvements. With this kind and constructive feedback your public speaking skills will develop quickly.
UM Toastmasters is open to UM graduate students and UM staff. We meet Thursdays from 12:10 to 1 p.m. in the UM University Center Alumni Boardroom, UC 329.
