As a signatory of the Presidents Climate Commitment, UM has committed to pursuing a long term goal of "climate neutrality." In addition, in 2008, the Montana Governor's office called on all state agencies to reduce their energy use by 20% (relative to 2007 levels) by the year 2010. UM is currently working to comply with this 20X10 Initiative and is also developing a climate action plan designed to get UM to carbon neutrality.
