Avian Science Center -- promotes ecological awareness and informed decision making through collection, synthesis & dissemination of science-based information on western birds.
Center For Riverine Science & Stream Re-Naturalization (the River Center)
Mission -- to focus the most innovative science, research and creativity on issues related to the restoration and maintenance of river function, multiple use, and environmental soundness within the landscape.
Clancy Gordon Environmental Sciences Laboratory --Founded in 1963, research conducted in this lab has shaped US and Montana environmental policy, especially air & water pollution policy & standards.
Numerical Terradynmaic Simulation Group (NTSG) -- uses satellites, geographic information systems, computer simulation and visualization, and biophysical theory to develop new techniques for addressing regional ecological problems. Director Steve Running was a co-author of the IPCC documents and recently shared in the Nobel Peace Prize with Al Gore.
Watershed Health Clinic -- Since 2001, the Clinic has worked with the Montana Department of Environmental Quality and the US EPA to characterize Montana lakes and streams to develop baseline information and criteria for healthy (least disturbed) conditions. This ongoing clinic project has characterized over 120 streams and 40 lakes all over Montana, and provided the basis for water quality standards for nutrients for the Clark Fork River.
