UM Green Thread -- UM is developing a Green Thread that weaves its way across the campus curriculum, providing lessons in sustainability in every discipline and program.
UM Campus Compact

Hence many UM classes emphasize service learning – learning while
serving the community
UM College of Technology Energy Technology Program introduces students to a full slate of energy technologies—historic, emerging, and alternative—and prepares them for careers in the energy industry
UM Environmental Studies ( BA & MS) with emphases in
Sustainability Studies, Environmental Justice, Law, Education, & Science,
Environmental Writing, Transboundary Issues, Natural Resource Dispute Resolution,
Sustainable Food & Farming and the PEAS farm

UM Internship Services provides students opportunities
to integrate academic learning with practical job experience through cooperative education and internships.

Wilderness and Civilization
Program
UM's Wilderness and Civilization program focuses on the study
of wildlands and land ethics and examines sustainability issues in urban,
rural, and wildlands contexts. Through courses, fieldwork, internships,
and service projects, students contribute to greening the UM campus
and western Montana. Over the years students have worked on and off
campus on projects such as campus composting and recycling, environmental
education, wilderness policy, environmental restoration, organic farming,
sustainable living demonstration, environmental justice, and more.
