Greening UM
The University of Montana

Green Thread is intended to infuse issues of ecological, social, and economic sustainability into courses across the UM curriculum. Grounded in a two-day summer workshop for UM faculty members, Green Thread helps faculty from across the university connect sustainability issues to core concepts in their own disciplines. Ultimately, Green Thread seeks to enhance students’ understanding of the interconnectedness of ecological, social, and economic issues.
Green Thread helps UM fulfill its commitments as a signatory to the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment (2007) and the Talloires Declaration (1999).
Green Thread’s mission is consistent with multiple aspects of UM's Strategic Plan, including the core value of Sustainability, and the strategic issues of Education for the Global Century and a Dynamic Learning Environment. Green Thread also is a part of the University’s Climate Action Plan.
