Facepainting

Along with check-in, pre-race festivities begin at 7 p.m. These activities often include a DJ, black-light face painting stations, a bounce house and dance. UM Dining's Iron Griz Restaurant will be open, serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and delicious starters, soups and salads, burgers and sandwiches, entrees and desserts until 9 p.m. Debit and credit cards accepted.

The sky will get darker as the pre-race festivities draw to a close, then it's GLOW TIME!  The race will begin promptly at 8 p.m.  Race organizers will make an announcement over a loud speaker when it is time for participants to approach the starting line. This is just a few minutes before the race begins.  The "party cart," blasting music, will then set off from the starting line to signal the start.

Location

The race will take place at the University of Montana Golf Course at 515 South Ave. East in Missoula.

Shown on the course map in blue, the race route is a 5K, or approximately 3 miles.  The route includes a few hairpin turns and traverses several gentle hills.

Marked with numbers on the course map are Glow Zones.  While these Glow Zones are areas that will be particularly festive and bright, it is not required to run through them; you may choose to skip these areas and run around them instead.

Glow Zones

DJ

Glow Zones are what make the Griz Glow 5K unique and extra fun. There are six or more Glow Zones throughout the course, providing opportunities to catch your breath, enjoy the entertainment, dance or play.

In the past Glow Zones have included hooping and fire performance by the UM Circus Club, live music from The Ghost Peppers, tunnels, obstacle courses, lightsaber battles with the UM Fencing Club, a giant slip and slide, splatter painting, a disco party and many more.

If you or your group, club or business would like to volunteer to host a Glow Zone, please contact us at campusrec.youthcamps@mso.umt.edu. Also, please email us if you would like to become a Griz Glow sponsor.
