Brown Bag Series

The University of Montana’s International Programs will host a brown bag lecture series fall semester at UM, and all lectures are free and open to the public.

International Brown Bag Lecture Series events will take place from noon to 1 p.m. in Old Journalism Building Room 303.

The series begins Wednesday, Sept. 16, with "Nepal: Politics, Culture and Media in the World’s Youngest Republic" by visiting journalists Rajendra Acharya and Prabal Pokhrel.

Other lectures in the series are:

  • Tuesday, Sept. 29: "Advances in Conservation Biology Emerging from Collaboration with University of Porto, Portugal" by UM College of Forestry and Conservation Professor Scott Mills and UM Division of Biological Sciences Research Associate Professor Gordon Luikart.
  • Thursday, Oct. 22: "Phenotypic Plasticity of Giant Goldenrod (Solidago gigantean) in the U.S. and in Hungary; or ‘What happens to the invaders if they are transported back home?’" by visiting Fulbright Scholar Robert Pal, University of Pécs, Hungary.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 4: "Family Planning, Community Health Interventions and Child Mortality in Indonesia" by Assistant Professor Ranjan Shrestha, UM Department of Economics.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 18: "Role of Media in Gross National Happiness (GNH)" by visiting scholar Passang Norbu from Bhutan.
