Desk Assistant Position

The Desk Assistant (DA) is a student staff member who assists with the community development of the Residence Halls by providing excellent customer service at one of the Residence Hall Area Desks. Desk Assistants help residents by answering questions from students and guests, checking out temporary access cards and keys, dispersing packages, answering the phone, and providing general customer service and resources at the front desks. Please read the Desk Assistant Position Description for more information about this position.

All Desk Assistants will be required to work nights and weekends, including weekend nights.

All DAs must be available to attend mandatory training on Monday, August 5 at 9am and work throughout the following weeks to help open the residence halls.

Compensation: This position varies in hours per week and pay starts at $13hr.

DA Application Process

Application

Generally, new Desk Assistants are hired throughout the year, but mostly through the Summer Conference application process. Applications are due on a rolling basis. Returning Desk Assistant applications are emailed to current DAs.

The number of returning and summer Desk Assistants continuing into the academic year dictates whether UM Housing has additional DA positions to fill. If there is a need for additional DAs after those processes are complete UM Housing will post an application for new DAs on this site as the season continues.
