Spring Move In

Welcome to the University of Montana! We are excited to have you join us in the Residence Halls this Spring Semester and want to provide you with additional information about move in.

Move In Information

First Day of Housing

The first official day of Spring housing is Saturday, January 20, 2018, and our Area Desks will open for check in at 9:00 am.

Early Arrival

Students wishing to arrive early may begin moving into their Residence Hall on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, without having to make special arrangements. Students will be charged a daily rate of $22.00 per night for each night they are here prior to the first official day of housing on Saturday, January 20, 2018.

UM Housing has four Area Desks that serve our students throughout the academic year. Students will check in at their Residence Hall's Area Desk.Area Desks: Aber, Craig, Miller, Jesse

  • Aber Hall Area Desk: Aber Hall residents
  • Craig Hall Area Desk: Craig, Duniway, and Elrod Hall residents
  • Jesse Hall Area Desk: Jesse, Turner, and Knowles Hall residents
  • Miller Hall Area Desk: Miller and Pantzer Hall residents

The Area Desks will be open from 9:00 am-8:00 pm during early arrival week. If a student arrives to check into their Residence Hall after the Area Desk is closed, they may call the on-call phone number posted on the front doors of the Residence Hall. A staff member will meet them at the Area Desk and check them into their Residence Hall room.

To check in, students will need to have their Griz Card. Their Griz Card will provide access to the front door of their Residence Hall. If a student still needs to get their Griz Card, please visit the Griz Card website for information about their availability during move in. If a student checks in after the Griz Card Center has closed and does not have their Griz Card, they will need to have photo identification and their student ID (790) number to check in.

The UM Police Department oversees parking at the University of Montana. There will be additional short term parking locations available near the Residence Halls for move in. We encourage students to be mindful that move in a busy time and to not leave their vehicles in "quick stop" parking spaces for longer than the allowed time period. Please note that ticketing will still occur in reserved, quick stop, handicap, and no-overnight parking areas.

All Residence Halls are equipped with standard twin-size beds, desks, dresser, closet, chair, bookshelf, overhead light, network connection, and a wastebasket. Pantzer Hall suites' common living areas also include a refrigerator, microwave, large storage closet, a furnished living room, and two bathrooms. Miller Hall pods' common living areas also include a refrigerator, microwave, living room furnished with a two-seat sofa, and a sofa table. Miller Hall singles also include a refrigerator and a microwave.
