UM Housing has partnered with the VETS Office (Veteran's Education and Transition Services Office) to provide a community for students with prior or current military service. The Veteran’s Community will allow Veteran students to live in suite-style accommodations with their own private room, but share living-space and a bathroom with other Veteran students.
As a part of this community, Veteran students are able to live with and connect to other Veteran students, both within their Residence Hall and through intentional programs provided by the VETS Office.
Programs & Events
Programs for this community have included:
- Attend events hosted by the VETS Office
- Attended "The Things They Carried" presentation by author Tim O’Brien about his fiction book which depicts stories about being a soldier in the Vietnam War
- Learned how to prepare a “go-pack" and discussed various emergency situations and how to be properly prepared
The Veterans Living Learning Community is located in Pantzer Hall on the 2nd floor. The Pantzer Hall 30-credit requirement will be waived for Veteran students wanting to live in this community.
How to Apply
To apply for the Veteran's LLC, please select this community in the online housing application. There is not a separate application to be a member of the Veteran's LLC, however, UM Housing will confirm that the student is registered with the VETS Office before placing them into the Veteran's Living Learning Community. If you have not yet registered with the VETS Office, please contact their office to complete this process.
If you have already applied to housing, but did not indicate your interest in the Veteran's LLC on your application, please contact Casey Cronin about your interest in being assigned to the Veteran's Living Learning Community.
