Position Description:

 

 

                     

 

 

 

 

 

The Department of Art at the University of Montana is accepting submissions for multiple adjunct faculty teaching assignments, (non-renewable, non-tenure track), primarily in:

 

Foundations Studio:

·         Drawing Fundamentals 123

·         Color and Design 125

·         3D Fundamentals 135

 

Additional course assignments may be in:

·         Printmaking

·         Photography (film and digital)

·         Painting

·         Sculpture

·         Ceramics

·         Drawing

·         Art Education

·         Art History and Art Appreciation

·         Professional Exhibition Curating and Programming, (Gallery)

 

Those responding and identified as qualified will be part of a continuing instructional pool for contact as needs arise for the 2006-07 and 2007-08 academic years.  The process will not be renewed for approximately eighteen to twenty-four months, based on departmental need.  As a result, the department will not accept applications for teaching assignments postmarked after the May 5th, 2006 deadline until another adjunct pool is advertised.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

 

 

 

 

Submission Deadline:

 

A completed Masters of Fine Arts Degree (MFA) for Studio (or Art Education with K-12 teaching experience), or Ph.D. in Art History or Art Education is preferred, by the time of hire. A completed Master's Degree in Art (MA) in the specific area you would like to teach is the minimum qualification by the time of hire.

 

 

Applications must be post marked by May 5, 2006 if they are to be considered for the 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 academic years.  Materials must be submitted with a self-addressed, stamped envelope for contents to be returned, or they will be discarded.

Please submit the following:

 

1. A Professional Visual Arts Resume that identifies your Art Degree and highlights your teaching experience

 

2. An Artist's or Professional Statement

 

3. A cover letter outlining your interest and qualifications.  Please specify your strongest areas; with a 15-week syllabus for each specific course you are interested in teaching.  See our current course catalog available online, to review the University of Montana's grading policy.  (The text Launching the Imagination is required for Foundations Studio courses 123, 125, and 135, and should be noted in your syllabi.  Specifics can be determined upon hire).

 

4. College Transcripts (Official Transcripts will be required upon hire)

 

5.  A list of three to five (3-5) professional references with reference's information including their name, job title, and their professional relationship with you, with contact information including their  telephone number, email address, and/or home address; (letters of recommendation are not required)

 

6.  A letter outlining Gallery Curator experience, if any

 

7. Twenty (20) digital images with a typed hard copy inventory list.  The 20 slides should include one (1) slide with your name and:

 

a. ten (10) images of your current (past five years) work, and nine (9) images of your previous or current students' work

 

OR

 

b. nineteen (19) images of installation shots of gallery exhibits from Gallery Curator experience you have

 

Images must be presented on a CD-Rom in either a Power Point Presentation or on a folder of JPEG files 300 dpi 6" high maximum. All images must be labeled with the following on the bottom of each image:

 

a.         Number that corresponds with the typed hard copy inventory list

b.         Name of Applicant

c.         Title, Size, Date and Materials
