The University of Montana, School of Social Work invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position to commence Fall 2007. Rank is open, depending on qualifications.

 

 The school is nationally recognized for its pioneering work in competency-based social work education at the bachelors’ level, and an innovative two-year MSW program that prepares students as practitioners, community leaders, and scholars able to address the complex demands of 21st century social work.

 

The program is committed to preparing students at both the bachelor’s and master’s levels who will promote social work’s historic commitment to social justice, appreciate diversity, use critical thinking skills, and embrace advances in knowledge that promote the well being of people and create a more humane society.

 

The school is committed to maintaining collaborative partnerships with tribal, state, and community-based organizations and initiatives addressing social service and social change.

Qualifications:

 

 

·         The position requires a MSW and a doctorate in Social Work (ABD considered) or related area, two years post BSW or MSW level practice experience

 

·         Evidence of research and scholarly productivity; interest in meeting the needs of rural and developing communities

 

·         Ability to teach in two or more curricular areas at both BSW and MSW levels (direct practice, research, policy, HBSE, families and children, mental health, community and program development)

 

·         A commitment to quality teaching and promoting a collaborative teaching-learning environment.

 

 

Desired qualifications include:

 

·         Practice experience across diverse client systems

 

·         Ability in multiple research approaches (quantitative, qualitative, participatory)

 

·         Experience in undergraduate or graduate teaching; practice, teaching, and/or research experience in the areas of mental health, agency program development and management, or community and social development

 

·         Demonstrated success in securing funds for research and/or project development

 

·         Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
