The Department of Art at the University of Montana-Missoula seeks applicants for a Full-time, 10 month contract, Tenure-Track Assistant Professor - Art, Ceramics position.
Teach three courses per semester.
All levels of ceramics, including graduate level, with possible additional teaching assignments in Foundations, Drawing, Sculpture and/or Digital Media.
Commitment to service, research, academic advising, digital literacy, health and safety issues and maintenance of Ceramics Studio (including Anagama, Soda, Gas and Electric kilns).

MFA in Art or MFA in Ceramics is required.
Evidence of teaching excellence required.
Teaching experience in Ceramics at the college/university level, one to two years beyond the Teaching Assistant level is required.
Applicant must demonstrate and teach strong conceptual, technical, traditional and contemporary knowledge in Ceramics.
Applicant must demonstrate a strong commitment to research, with a national exhibition record preferred.

The Department of Art is part of the School of Fine Arts, which includes art, music, drama/dance, and media arts.
The department offers Minors in Art Studio and Art History and BA, BFA, MA, and MFA degrees, and art education endorsements are available.
The department consists of thirteen full-time faculty members and three staff positions.
Facilities include painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, and art education studios, an Art History Resource Center, and
BFA spaces housed in the Fine Arts Building; ceramics and sculpture studios and grad spaces housed in the Art Annex;
additional grad spaces housed in Schreiber; and the Gallery of Visual Arts, housed in the Social Sciences building.

1. Cover letter outlining qualifications with a current email address (please indicate if you might have plans to attend the CAA conference in Dallas, February 2008 and NCECA in Pittsburgh in March 2008)
2. Curriculum vitae
3. One (1) labeled CD with 20 digital examples of personal art work and 20 digital examples of student art works in jpeg format in two files or in a PowerPoint presentation. Works must have been completed in the past five to seven years (NO FILM SLIDES; CD's will be viewed on a Mac computer. Please use labels designed for CD's)
4. Two to four images of art work in hard copy (photos or digital prints) included with the submitted CD
5. Your artist's statement
6. Official transcripts (no photocopies)
7. Contact information for three professional references (email addresses and telephone numbers required)
8. Course syllabi for both introductory and advanced ceramic courses
9. Statement of teaching philosophy.
