LAW AND PAY



MYTH: State law must be changed to allow for union and non-union staff members to be paid in a manner which deviates from the State Classification and Pay Plan.

FACT: Prior to the mid-1970's, staff of the Montana University System were not covered by the State Classification and Pay Plan. The State Pay Plan is not mandated for University System staff in State law. Unions representing staff negotiated their inclusion in the State Classification and Pay Plan, and the Board of Regents adopted a policy which serves to include non-union classified staff in the State Classification and Pay Plan.
