PROCEDURES

The recruitment of Academic, Professional, and Classified Staff Positions are conducted at the department level and monitored by Human Resource Services.

The following forms and resources are used in support of the recruitment process for all Academic, Professional, and Staff positions.



TEMPORARY STAFF RECRUITMENT



ADVERTISING

Each department is responsible for all advertising, however, all advertisements must be approved by HRS prior to being placed. Please do not refer applicants to HRS. Include a department contact and instructions to apply. You may fax classified ads to the Missoulian at 406.523.5221.


APPLICATIONS

At the discretion of the department, you may use a common application, create a department specific application, or require only a resume. The department is responsible for collecting applications.


SCREENING

Please be conscious of the University's commitment to equal opportunity and treat all applicants fairly.


REFERENCES

Verify employment and performance.


INTERVIEWING

Remember to ask only questions that are job specific. Questions must be approved by HRS prior to interviews.


HIRING PAPERWORK

A temporary employee can be hired using the Temporary Staff Employment form.

The employee will also need to fill out a Personal Information form, W-4, I-9, and Decedents Warrant before he or she can be paid. Please refer here for more details concering Hiring Forms:

BENEFITS

Benefits depend on the duration of employment and FTE (full time equivalency).

If hired for over 6 months at .5 FTE or higher, employee is eligible for all medical benefits.
Annual leave is available after 6 months of employment regardless of FTE.
Sick leave is available after 90 days of employment regardless of FTE.


TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT POOL

Human Resource Services maintains a file of applicants who are interested in temporary work. We ask that the candidates submit a resume and fill out a skills assessment form located on our website.


TRAINING & SUPPORT



Training for departments and/or supervisors conducting recruitments is offered in a one-on-one setting. When a new recruitment is slated to begin, please contact our office for consultation and to schedule a personalized training session with a member of our recruitment team.
