Entry Rate: $11.00/hr.

Primary Functions

  • Position provides administrative support to the finance function and to other office functions as needed in the MTNHP Office located in Helena, MT
  • Prepares and processes accounting forms/reports, maintains lists and other accounting materials, communicates on behalf of the Supervisor with internal and external contacts as necessary; reconciles accounts and resolves discrepancies by reviewing project agreements and budgets, source documents and Banner database software; works closely with Finance/Grants Administrator to track project finances; and with project managers to provide current information on financial status of projects
  • Maintains office procedure documents to ensure compliance with University, State, and Federal policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Provides administrative support for staff recruitments; prints, files and distributes a variety of reports and other materials; maintains office supply inventories; completes other duties as assigned
  • Minimum Job Qualifications

  • High School graduation and three (3) years of progressive accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in accounting principles and practices
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn The University of Montana, Federal, State, and private funding agency policies and procedures
  • Ability to interpret and coordinate accounting information in order to provide assistance to MTNHP staff, other University departments, and vendors
  • Ability to monitor grant activity and reconcile grant accounts
  • Demonstrated skill in the use of personal computers and related word processing, spreadsheet and database software (MS Excel, Word, Access), Internet navigation, with the ability to learn new software
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills; ability to draft and edit correspondence and other written materials; ability to convey accounting information in a clear and understandable manner to a diverse group individuals
  • Ability to make sound decisions; complete multiple and complex tasks with the highest degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to remain professional at all times; organize and prioritize work assignments with the ability to meet deadlines in a busy environment; demonstrate flexibility to changing situations and priorities
  • Ability to process related paperwork; recognize and correct errors and accounting discrepancies
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with Banner Finance software
