Primary Functions

  • Recruits prospective students by providing accurate and ethical admissions counseling and information about The University of Montana academic opportunities, admission requirements, student life, policies, and procedures
  • Provides outreach services on and off campus primarily in the state of Montana
  • Plans and implements on and off campus recruitment events primarily in the state of Montana
  • Coordinates and executes strategic recruiting, scholarship processing and communication mailing scheme for prospective students
  • Minimum Job Qualifications

  • High school graduation and a minimum two (2) years prior related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with academic programs and student services provided by institutions of higher education
  • Demonstrated knowledge of recruitment and economic trends and experience in domestic recruitment practices and procedures
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with prospective students and their parents
  • Effective public relations, public speaking, and written communication skills with the ability to make presentations and represent The University of Montana in a professional manner (applicants selected for interview will be required to make an unrehearsed presentation and provide a writing sample)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of or the ability to learn The University of Montana policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated knowledge of or the ability to learn effective marketing strategies; ability to develop and distribute/present materials to the intended audience
  • Proven ability to analyze information, develop solutions and problem solve
  • Proven ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills with the ability to complete tasks in a busy environment
  • Demonstrated planning and decision-making skills
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, evenings, and weekends, as needed
  • Must have, or be able to obtain, a valid Montana Driver’s License
  • Must be able to travel for extended periods of time
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the academic programs and services offered at The University of Montana – Missoula
