Position is responsible for processing degree applications
Position coordinates Commencement Ceremony: (Duties include but are not limited to: preparing commencement program, notifying students
and parents of ceremony details, assisting in physical preparation for ceremony and lining up of students)
Position provides support for the Academic Appeals process: (Duties include but are not limited to: advising students regarding appeals policy
and process, preparing materials for appeals subcommittee, advising subcommittee on curriculum requirements, notifying and explaining
decisions to students)
Position maintains student database (records academic history: grade changes, course repeats, waivers and substitutions)
Position manages Writing Proficiency Assessment program (records scores, maintains registration eligibility, distributes correspondence)
Provides academic advising to general studies students

| Minimum Job Qualifications |
|
High school graduation and two (2) years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
|
|
| Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities |
|
Demonstrated knowledge of standard office practices and procedures; business English, spelling, grammar and composition
Effective public relations, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate to a diverse group of
individuals
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, the University community, and the general public
Demonstrated skill in the operation of personal computers and related word processing, spreadsheet, database software, (Microsoft Office
suite) internet and e-mail with the ability to learn other software
Ability to use standard office equipment: copiers, fax machine and multi-line phone system
Demonstrated problem solving, organizational, time management, multi-tasking skills, and ability to handle multiple and tasks with highest
degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and work on projects independently
Ability to assess the needs of customers and provide information and/or direction in a timely, clear, and friendly manner
Knowledge of or ability to learn and apply UM academic policies and procedures (academic degree hierarchy and structure; UM’s curricula-
degrees, majors, minors, options and course offerings)

Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with Banner software
Related work experience in an institute of higher education; previous work experience in a Registrar’s Office
Bachelor's degree in degree in a related field
