Primary Functions

  • This position assists students, employers and alumni by providing career and life-planning services specifically through employer and job development, on-campus recruiting, event planning, supervising and managing the web-based career management system, communication with employers and departments on campus and coordinating the Ask-an-Alum Career Leadership Luncheons
  • Coordinates on-campus recruiting activities, builds and maintains relationships with employers, faculty, staff and students
  • Responsible for employer relations and development
  • Plans events for on-campus recruiting visits, college majors fair and assists with other events in the Office of Career Services
  • Supervises and directs operations of the web-based career management system
  • Processes, assimilates and disseminates Graduate Survey data to nurture and develop employer relations
  • Maintains appropriate web pages for the Office of Career Services
  • Minimum Job Qualifications

  • High school graduation and three (3) years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of work trends and hiring practices and procedures in both a corporate and educational setting
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including ability to edit materials
  • Ability to develop promotional materials
  • Demonstrated skill in the operation of personal computers and related word processing, spreadsheet and database software (Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, email merge and design software) with the ability to learn new software (career management software) and train staff to use related software
  • Knowledge of web design and related software (HTML, Adobe, Homesite, Dreamweaver, PhotoShop)
  • Effective public relations, interpersonal, public speaking and presentation skills
  • Ability to plan and coordinate meetings and special events
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of individuals and maintain and create relationships with current and new contacts
  • Ability to problem solve and maintain a professional, personable demeanor
  • Organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills and ability to meet deadlines in a busy environment with attention to detail
  • Ability to design and implement short-range and long-term planning and provide historical and other relevant data
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and work on projects independently
  • Ability to travel to conduct employer development and/or to participate in career fairs
  • Some weekend and evening work is required to coordinate events and fairs
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with higher education academic programs, support services, community resources
  • Bachelors Degree in related field
