Entry Rate: $10.468/hr. - $11.515/hr.

Primary Functions

  • Position responsible to coordinate a number of events for UM (Including but not limited to: Homecoming, Alumni Association Reunions, the Community Lecture Series, and others as assigned)
  • Position plans all related events, secures venue location, orders supplies (food, equipment, set-up), organizes schedules, creates event agendas, programs, marketing and promotional tools; researches and evaluates event options; maintains accurate records and files; creates related reports
  • Minimum Job Qualifications

  • High school graduation and two (2) years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures, business English, grammar, spelling, and punctuation with the ability to prepare and edit related documents and reports
  • Effective public relations, interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to create and maintain positive relationships and work with a diverse group of individuals
  • Ability to create and distribute marketing/promotional materials
  • Demonstrated skill in the operation of personal computers and related word processing, spreadsheet, and database software (MS Office), internet and e-mail with the ability to learn new software programs
  • Ability to collect and maintain accurate information
  • Ability to plan, organize, and execute meetings and events
  • Ability to use standard office equipment: copiers, fax machine, and multi-line phone system
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and handle conflicts in a timely and professional manner
  • Ability to remain organized and on schedule while handling multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills; ability to act with initiative
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated event and/or conference planning experience; alumni relations work experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of The University of Montana-Missoula; demonstrated knowledge of and experience with Banner database software
  • Two or more years of experience enrolled in an institute of higher education
