Position works closely with the faculty and staff to manage the day-to-day operations of the department; provides administrative support to the
Chair and department faculty (Duties include but are not limited to: clerical and reception; budget and financial accounts management;
processing payroll and travel arrangements; serving as ProCard manager; processing scholarships & awards and faculty and graduate contracts;
maintaining accurate records and files)
Assists with: faculty searches; faculty evaluations; scheduling of classes; University departmental Accreditation; department event planning;
assembling department newsletter
May supervise staff and/or student employees
Completes other duties as assigned

| Minimum Job Qualifications |
|
High School graduation and three (3) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and education
|
|
| Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities |
|
Demonstrated knowledge of professional office practices and procedures; business English, spelling, composition, and grammar with the
ability to draft, proofread, and layout various documents for the intended audience
Demonstrated skill in the use of personal computers and related word processing, spreadsheet, and database software (Microsoft Office suite)
with the ability to learn new software
Effective public relations, interpersonal, and communication skills, including the ability to work with diverse groups of individuals and create
and maintain effective working relationships
Knowledge of accounting practices and procedures with the ability to perform basic budget management functions
Demonstrated knowledge of or the ability to learn The University of Montana polices and procedures
Ability to meet deadlines, establish appropriate priorities, and effectively organize information and staff
Ability to plan department activities, schedule meetings and classrooms
Demonstrated problem solving skills with the ability to maintain a professional, personable demeanor
Demonstrated organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills
Demonstrated knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures
Ability to create and maintain files and records
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and work on projects independently
Demonstrated skill in the operation of standard office equipment; copiers, fax machine and multi-line phone system

Bachelor’s degree in a related field
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with Banner Finance database software
