Entry Rate: $9.735/hr.

Primary Functions

  • Borrows materials for The University of Montana campus community: locates, orders, and processes materials
  • Lends Mansfield Library resources according to departmental library policies and procedures
  • Provides reference assistance and research instruction to patrons
  • Organizes and monitors daily workflow
  • Supervises and trains student employees
  • Minimum Job Qualifications

  • High school graduation and one (1) year related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures, business English, grammar, spelling, composition, and punctuation
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and proven ability to prioritize tasks
  • Experience in the use of personal computers and related software (Microsoft Office) with the ability to learn new programs
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment
  • Ability to navigate a variety of research databases, software, and websites
  • Ability to train and lead student employees
  • Ability to provide detailed, accurate and courteous customer service in a high volume, high traffic environment
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, customers, other agencies and the general public
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and composure while resolving problems
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous interlibrary loan work experience in an academic library
  • Experience using OCLC, Docline, ILLIAD, MS Access, and/or Voyager
  • Knowledge of Machine Readable Code (MARC) format
  • Familiarity with basic supervisory skills
  • Physical Requirements

    Qualified candidates must be able to meet minimum requirements and perform the primary functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to maneuver carts of materials weighing up to 300 lbs. & retrieve materials from stacks ranging from 4” to 8’ off the ground
