Primary Functions

  • Position coordinates the faculty and staff exchange programs; assists the Director with coordinating visits by international dignitaries to UM; develops and implements a creative marketing plan to increase awareness and participation of faculty and staff within the UM community; assists the Director in creating new and maintaining existing relationships with partner university exchange programs; evaluates program effectiveness and makes improvement recommendations
  • Position coordinates campus-wide international events (International Education Week, International Week, International Brown Bag Series); maintains exchange agreements and Memoranda of Understanding with partner universities; maintains and updates office communication tools (International Programs, English Language Institute, and Central Asia Program websites, International Newsletter, brochures and flyers)
  • Assists with Faculty-Directed Study Abroad Programs; acts as primary contact for UM faculty involved in leading study abroad programs; oversees the Tajik Student Exchange Program: assists Director to formulate program policies and procedures, monitors admissions of incoming students, prepares scholarship budget
  • Minimum Job Qualifications

  • High School graduation and three (3) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with program coordination practices and procedures; planning, organization, execution, and analysis
  • Effective public relations, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with a diverse group of individuals
  • Demonstrated knowledge of professional office practices and procedures; business English, spelling, composition, and grammar with the ability to create, proofread, and layout documents and promotional materials for the intended audience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of or the ability to learn web maintenance software
  • Demonstrated skill in the operation of personal computers and related word processing software (Microsoft Word, Outlook) with the ability to learn new software
  • Demonstrated knowledge of or the ability to learn the study abroad programs offered at UM
  • Demonstrated organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills and ability to meet deadlines in a busy environment with attention to detail
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, and execute activities and events; experience with MS PowerPoint
  • Proven ability to effectively convey information in a clear and understandable manner to a diverse group of individuals
  • Proven ability to problem solve and make sound decisions
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality; accurate files and records
  • Demonstrated skill in the operation of standard office equipment; printers, copiers, fax machine, multi-line phone system
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with Adobe InDesign and/or Dreamweaver software
  • Demonstrated experience with cultural exchange programs
