Entry Rate: $12.968/hr.

Primary Functions

  • Position assists in overseeing financial resources, budget development, program develop and strategic planning, and ensuring that all related physical resources are used properly
  • Serves as informational liaison to the campus community to help UM reduce waste through reduce, reuse, and recycling methods (Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Policy development; conducing internal informational meetings; establishing and implementing demonstration projects; serving as a UM representative at external meetings, coordinating with external agencies and groups to develop related methods to achieve overall goals and raise awareness; conducting research; analyzing environmental policy regarding material management and waste reduction; designing and distributing informational and marketing materials; collecting and analyzing data; maintaining accurate records; preparing status/progress reports
  • Hires, trains, and supervises student support staff
  • Minimum Job Qualifications

  • High School graduation and three (3) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to provide information to diverse groups of faculty, students, administrators, staff and members of the general public
  • Demonstrated knowledge of or ability to learn recycling/waste reduction methods, environmental policy, and UM policy and procedures
  • Demonstrated knowledge of or ability to learn budget development and management practices and procedures
  • Demonstrated skill in the operation of personal computers and related word processing, spreadsheet and database software (Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Access) with the ability to learn other software programs
  • Ability to conduct research, organize and present findings
  • Ability to develop informational and marketing materials; develop and implement demonstration projects for UM departments
  • Demonstrated knowledge of standard office practices and procedures; business English, spelling, grammar, composition and punctuation
  • Demonstrated ability to train and supervise support staff
  • Ability to work independently; demonstrated organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, public relations, oral and written communication skills, with the ability establish and maintain good working relationships
  • Problem solving skills with the ability to maintain a professional, personable demeanor under all circumstances
  • Ability to develop, track, and evaluate project plans
  • Must possess or able to obtain a Montana Driver’s license
  • Must be able to work in an environment with potential exposure to hazardous materials, chemicals, odors
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated work experience with a recycling program in an environment of higher education
  • Demonstrated experience developing an environmental outreach program
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, and/or related field

  • Ability to lift and move equipment/materials weighing up to 50#; perform duties at various locations on campus in all types of weather
