Performs skilled manual labor, planning, record keeping, basic security and aids in maintaining excellent relations with the campus community
and the public
Performs basic daily and periodic cleaning; cleans all types of floors in classrooms, offices, hallways and restrooms
Prepares reports and documents pertaining to maintenance, supplies, project cleaning, and physical inventory
Supervises and helps train up to 3.0 FTE permanent, temporary and/or student employees
Checks security of buildings by detecting locked doors and windows; reports maintenance problems; reports hazardous situations
Interacts and communicates with campus community and public to perform project work

| Minimum Job Qualifications |
|
High school graduation and one (1) year of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
|

| Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities |
|
Demonstrated knowledge of custodial methods and up-to-date cleaning equipment and techniques used for scrubbing, disinfecting, mopping,
dusting, polishing and related tasks (A written exercise will be given at time of interview)
Skill in operating cleaning equipment including buffers, scrubbers, vacuums, shampooers, high-pressure cleaners and extractors
Demonstrated organizational and time management skills in order to complete assigned tasks within allocated time
Ability to work with little direct supervision; demonstrated knowledge of basic supervisory techniques
Applicant must possess, or be able to obtain, a Structural and Institutional Applicator License for extermination spraying of insects
Knowledge of or ability to learn basic physical layout of campus buildings; ability to perceive possible problems with machinery
Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to create and maintain effective working relationships; demonstrated
ability to follow written instructions

Qualified candidates must be able to meet minimum requirements and perform the primary functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must be able to perform constant physical activity: Lifting: ground to 60 inches, up to 35#. Ground to overhead, up to 5# sustained, with both
hands; Carrying: 2 handed front carry up to 35# for 50 feet; Pushing & pulling forces required (during the use of cleaning equipment, handling
janitor’s cart & dolly): 25# sustained. Pushing & pulling forces required (handling, pushing & pulling classroom & office furniture &
equipment): 30# sustained; Static trunk forward bending & twisting from a standing, crouching or kneeling position while using tools;
Reaching with your arms in all directions, including overhead with 5# in both hands, sustained; Working overhead from various positions
(standing, squatting, & kneeling); Balancing when climbing & working on a ladder; Use of various hand grip circumferences & firm hand grip
positions while manipulating various tools & equipment (maximum 50#). A Physical Screen will be administered prior to a final offer of
employment.
