Position operates the Academic Support Center (ASC); creates and maintains a supportive, student-centered learning environment
Position coordinates the tutoring and testing services (Duties include but are not limited to: assisting with tutor training, managing the
scheduling for ASC services, hiring and supervising peer tutors and evaluating both peer and professional tutors, assisting with payroll and
personnel documentation/processing)
Manages and maintains required student database for the Carl Perkins Local Application grant; coordinates work with UM personnel and
contacts associated with grant requirements/management; creates requisite reports for the Carl Perkins Local grant program
Completes a variety of clerical and support duties as needed; provides professional and courteous customer service

| Minimum Job Qualifications |
|
Bachelor’s degree in education and/or a related field and one (1) year of related work experience, or an equivalent combination
of education and experience
|
|
| Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities |
|
Knowledge of or the ability to learn student development and adult learning theory and practice; ability to apply sound pedagogical
practices to create a supportive learning environment
Ability to plan and schedule ASC work flow; demonstrated knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures
Organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a busy environment with frequent interruptions
Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate to a diverse group of individuals, and
establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, the University community, and the general public
Ability to problem solve, exercise sound judgment, and maintain a professional, collaborative, and personable demeanor
Ability to maintain confidentiality and security of records and data; maintain accurate records and data; generate reports
Ability to complete projects independently and accurately with attention to detail
Knowledge of or ability to learn The University of Montana and COT policies and procedures
Demonstrated experience in the operation of personal computers and related word processing, spreadsheet and database software (Microsoft
Office Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) with the ability to learn other software programs
Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures; business English, spelling, grammar, composition, proofreading and ability to edit
documents
Ability to operate standard office equipment including copier, fax, multi-line telephone, computer, and printer on a frequent basis
Ability to work nights and/or weekends during peak periods; on rare occasions, ability to travel to/from UM-Msla mountain and west
campuses in order to meet special needs of the position
