Position provides customer and shipping services at the University-operated Contract Postal Station. The clerk will provide United States Postal
Services (USPS), UPS shipping service, FedEx shipping service, custom packaging, and retail packaging supplies to the campus community
Coordinates the rental of private mailboxes and maintains related databases
Ensures the accuracy and accountability of daily deposits of both USPS and University funds; assists with stamp inventories and counts
Utilizes USPS and ShipRite software
Process cash transactions with accuracy
May provide training and guidance to student mail support staff in the absence of the Shipping Express Supervisor
Works a daily schedule of 8 hours in a day but shift can vary between the hours of 8am to 6pm; works a flexible schedule to cover peak periods
of the academic year and breaks, summer months, and University holidays as needed

| Minimum Job Qualifications |
|
High school graduation and two (2) years prior related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
|

|
Demonstrated ability to provide positive, helpful, and efficient customer service, including the ability to handle difficult customers
Demonstrated skill in the operation of personal computers and related word processing, spreadsheet and database software with the ability to
learn new software
Demonstrated skill in the operation of standard office equipment; copiers, fax machine, multi-line phone system, 10-key calculator
Demonstrated knowledge of USPS, UPS, and FedEx shipping requirements and procedures
Effective public relations, interpersonal, and oral communication skills, including ability to work with diverse groups of individuals; ability to create and maintain effective and professional relationships with others (UC staff members, campus community, general public)
Organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills, and ability to meet deadlines in a busy environment with attention to detail
Knowledge and experience with cash handling practices and procedures with the ability to handle cash accurately and reconcile individual tills
Ability to use shipping scale, record transactions and affix proper postage
Ability to track customer’s private mailbox accounts, request and accept payments to those accounts
Ability to maintain accurate inventories and place orders as necessary
Ability to work a flexible schedule and work on University holidays as necessary
Ability to advise and train student staff when needed

Demonstrated knowledge of postal policies, procedures and standards related to mail delivery, collection and processing
Demonstrated knowledge of UPS and FedEx shipping requirements, options and procedures

Qualified candidates must be able to meet minimum requirements and perform the primary functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must be able to perform physical activity: Lifting: floor to 36 inches weighing up to 70#, floor to overhead weighing up to 20#; carrying: front carry up
to 70# for 10 feet or less; up to 30# up and down 2 flights of stairs; pushing/pulling carts and freight 100# peak and 70# sustained; static trunk forward
bending form standing position; reaching with arms in all directions; occasionally working from height of 70 inches; balancing while climbing stairs;
walking on even and uneven surfaces distances up to 1000 feet over a period of time; hand grip strength maximum of 80# force in both hands; manual
hand dexterity to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects; wrist-finger speed: repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists; stand on feet for up to
8 hours a day. A Physical Screening will be administered prior to a final offer of employment.
