Entry Rate: $10.915/hr. - $11.00/hr.

Primary Functions

  • Provides administrative support to the Director and serves as an active member of management teams; coordinates administrative activity of senior management team; communicates on behalf of Director to various individuals; coordinates the development of and maintains department’s administrative policies and management practices/procedures; ensures compliance with the University’s policies and procedures; gathers information and prepares various reports, correspondence, and documents; plans and coordinates various events and activities; reviews department’s website for accuracy; provides daily administrative support for department when necessary
  • Minimum Job Qualifications

  • High school graduation and three (3) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of or the ability to learn The University of Montana polices, procedures, and organizational structure
  • Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, with the ability to provide customer service, communicate, and establish and maintain good working relationships with a diverse group of individuals
  • Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures: business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, proofreading, and composition with the ability to draft and edit various documents
  • Demonstrated ability to collect, organize, synthesize, and distill information into a publication suitable for its intended audience
  • Demonstrated organizational, time management, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills, while paying attention to detail
  • Demonstrated experience in the operation of personal computers and a variety of software programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, with the ability to learn new software
  • Ability to plan and schedule meetings, events, and activities
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment including copier, fax, multi-line telephone, computer, and printer on a frequent basis
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm in stressful situations and maintain a professional demeanor at all times
  • Ability to attain ServSafe certification within one year of employment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, problem solve, and make sound decisions
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Montana Driver’s license
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
