Position is responsible for providing development and maintenance support for CE websites, databases, and Blackboard for UMOnline
Helps assess changing technology needs for UMOnline; develops technical support materials and system documentation
Monitors and troubleshoots online course delivery and other areas of technological responsibilities, including online course supplements
Conducts research to develop and maintain databases related to UMOnline operation; explores new technologies as assigned
Provides training and technical assistance to students and instructors using software/programs utilized by CE
Actively participates in UMOnline staff meetings; participates in new initiatives to advance the mission of UMOnline
May assist in the training of student workers; will help assess the effectiveness of the Course Management System (CMS); assists with course shell creation and management; responds to user and course access issues
Serves as an informational and service contact for UMOnline; works closely with the instructional designer, help-desk and faculty development staff

| Minimum Job Qualifications |
|
Associate’s degree in information technology or related field and one (1) year of related work experience, or an equivalent
combination of education and experience
|
|
| Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities |
|
Demonstrated experience in web development tools, web graphic tools, media technologies, HTML, digitizing content and server administration. An exercise will be given at time of interview.
Demonstrated experience with system administration of web-based course management systems, particularly Blackboard, with the ability to learn new systems
Ability to create instructional materials consistent with client needs
Ability to prepare, compile and disseminate written and online documentation
Demonstrated experience with networking hardware, software and system administration software, tools and procedures
Knowledge of various operating systems, file structures, formats and protocols
Ability to make effective presentations and training related to online learning and represent the department on various committees
Effective interpersonal, public relations, and communication skills, including ability to work with a diverse population and create and maintain positive relationships
Demonstrated ability to maintain and troubleshoot hardware and software issues and provide effective solutions
Demonstrated organizational, multi-tasking, time management, and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated skill in the operation of personal computers and related word processing, spreadsheet and database software. An exercise will be given at time of interview.
Demonstrated database design and development experience
Ability to be flexible in an atmosphere of change; exercising sound judgment and acting with initiative
May be required to work evenings and weekends on an occasional basis; must be able to travel locally as needed

Bachelor’s degree in related field
Demonstrated experience in educational computing; instructional systems design; multimedia technology and emerging technologies
Demonstrated experience developing and using Maven, online data reporting and workflow application
