Housing and Meals

Housing

International Exchange Students should make their housing arrangements and apply for housing through the Office of Residence Life at The University of Montana. Residence Life offers several housing options for the duration of your exchange program to fit your individual needs. There are nine Residence Halls located on campus, an apartment complex close to campus, and housing for married students and students with special needs within walking distance to the main campus. Students who do not bring their own bed linens can purchase a Bed In A Bag consisting of one laundry bag with 2 bath towels, 2 sheets, 1 pillow, 1 pillow case, 1 mattress pad, & 1 blanket from Residence Life for $100 when they arrive to The University of Montana.

The Residence Life Office also offers Living Learning Communities for students living in the Residence Halls.  These Living Learning Communities merge classroom learning with students' out of class experiences.  Find out more information here!

Early Arrival Housing

Housing is available for students who arrive prior to the date the residence halls officially open at $17/day. For additional information on or to arrange early arrival housing, please contact Robin Joseph with the Residence Life Office at rjoseph@mso.umt.edu.

Meals

Depending on what housing option you choose, there are various meal plans available through Dining Services. The All Campus Meal Plan is the best value because it may be used at all of the restaurants on campus. The Lommasson Plus Meal Plan may be used only at the restaurants located in the Lommasson Center and the restaurant Jus Chill’n in the Fitness and Recreation Center. For students living in off-campus university housing, there is a Commuter Meal Plan that allows students to deposit money into a meal plan account for them to purchase meals at a discounted rate at all dining facilities on campus.
