A degree in International and Global Studies provides a solid foundation for 21st century success. The IGS student stand out in the crowd of highly-educated university graduates through a diverse foundation, professional analytical skills, research, writing, problem solving, global perspectives, cultural and global sensitivity and competence through transferable knowledge of other cultures and languages. The degree also empowers students to think critically about the economic, historical and cultural dimensions of various countries, cultures and conflicts.

The IGS prepares students for careers in a variety of fields such as international public policy, international business and finance, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, and academic research and teaching.

Entering the national or international employment market with a degree in International and Global Studies from the University of Montana provides graduates with wonderful opportunities for a successful and meaningful future career.

A Bachelor's degree in IGS does not guaranty entry into a specific field. It does, however, provide a broad knowledge base that can be used to excel in a variety of occupations.  International studies majors may find employment in business and finance, government, NGO’s, nonprofits, media, and educational institutions depending on their skills and experience. Graduates can pursue careers locally, as well as internationally:
