Implementation and Future Growth

The IGS majors will attract new students to the University of Montana, interested in majoring in international and global studies, as well as students who are already at UM but who would like to add the IGS to their existing major, or who would like to change their major to International and Global Studies.

Implementation 

The implementation of the IGS at the University of Montana consists of three major phases:

Future Growth 

Our conservative estimate is that IGS would attract 30 - 50 majors in the first year and grow to 120 majors by the fourth year. 

These numbers are based on growth rates for recently developed international studies majors in the northern Rocky Mountain, Great Plains, and Pacific Northwest regions, as well as on enrollment growth for courses with an international theme or focus offered during recent years at the University of Montana.
