Description:
Dr. Udo Fluck joined the Department of Anthropology in fall of 2011, as an
Adjunct Assistant Professor, teaching in the area of cross-cultural and global
competence. He also joined the Office of International Programs in fall of 2011, where he will
play a leading role as an administrator in the development and implementation of
the new International and Global Studies major at the University of Montana.
Dr. Fluck was born, raised, and received his primary education in Germany. His
formal education is very diverse. He holds a Ph.D. and two Master’s degrees and
a Bachelor Degree from the University of Montana. During the past decade, He
has worked as a curriculum developer, faculty member, and cross-cultural
researcher in Germany and the US.
When Dr. Fluck taught his first UM course in global competence in 2004 he had a
total enrollment of 10 students. The need to accommodate the challenge of
today’s changing workforce, which demands international and global knowledge
and skills in college graduates made his courses popular among students. With
demand increasing, he developed and taught a variety of courses over the years
at the University of Montana. This past academic year, Dr. Fluck taught over 600
students!
Parallel to his teaching he has been heading the office of Multicultural Learning
Solutions (MLS), which provides professional cultural and global competence
training at UM. During the past years, he has developed over 200 diverse MLS
seminars and trainings. MLS, a unique, hybrid, interactive and award-winning
instructional approach to multicultural learning, is utilized to train individuals to
become more internationally-minded and competent in today's global world.
Since 2011, MLS is a Division in International Programs at the International Center.

Dr. Fluck developed and taught a variety of courses over the years in the

Professional Experience:
In the late 90’s, Dr. Fluck went back to Europe to work as a media consultant and
faculty member to develop and implement a media department at an International Business
School in Germany. He returned to the United States to complete his doctorate
degree, and in 2003 was awarded a Ph.D., with an emphasis in multicultural
educational training and instructional technology from his alma mater.

Dr. Fluck has traveled extensively in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France, Spain,
England, Belgium, Holland, Canada, Mexico, and of course the United States of
America.

Since the mid-90’s, Dr. Fluck has been the author, co-author and presenter of
numerous research studies and presenter at national and international
conferences in the fields of education and business. He is a published author,
