Before you go...

What can I start doing now that I've been nominated?

• Make sure you have a valid passport.  If not, find out how to apply.
• Review the UM Study Abroad Student Handbook and ISEP Study Abroad Handbook.
• Visit your host country handbook to learn about the student visa process.
• Review the State Department website for country specific information on health and safety.
• Research your host country's immunization requirements and recommendations.
• Apply for financial aid if you plan to use it for your study abroad semester(s).
• Attend the mandatory pre-departure orientation and 2 cultural workshops.
• Wait for IP to contact you with your placement letter.

Now that I have been placed, what's next?

• Submit your Study Plan Approval Form.
• Submit your signed International Programs Release and Agreement and Health Information.
• Contact a UM Study Abroad Ambassador and check out the ISEP Facebook site for advice on your exchange.
• Wait for IP to contact you with your placement confirmation package.

Now that my placement has been confirmed, what's next?

• Enroll in the ISEP Health Insurance Program online (print enrollment form and submit to IP): Enrollment and Summary of Benefits.
• Submit your signed Participant Placement Acceptance Form (and required deposit if ISEP Direct) and the UM ISEP Participation Agreement.
• As soon as you can register on cyberbear, login and make your insurance selection and log off.
• If you expect a financial aid refund, submit this form to the Griz Central cashier with your deposit slip.
• Purchase your plane ticket.  Make sure this coincides with your visa requirements. 
• Notify your host institution of your arrival plans.
• Register with the U.S. Embassy.
• Pay your UM student bill and finalize your account.
• Remember to bring your host university's Institutional Information Sheet.
• Review the Study Abroad Checklist to make sure you have everything completed!
