IT strategic plan

Mission
The mission of the Information Technology unit (IT) is to provide leadership in identifying and supporting the information technology infrastructure required to support the broader strategic and tactical plans of The University of Montana - Missoula, the four campuses of the multi-campus University of Montana, and the Montana University System.
Vision
In pursuit of its mission, IT will identify UMM/IT strategic directions designed to fulfill its mission and which also align UM and UMM with IT strategic directions set for the MUS.

Montana University System IT strategic directions
In an appendix to its broad strategic planning document, the Board of Regents has established three primary IT strategic directions for the MUS.

Enterprise Implementation Systems: implementation of a common system across all campuses.

Network Connectivity: continue development of networking to provide capabilities to link all campuses together, to link campuses to other state, regional, and national networks, and to extend services to areas of Montana that do not host a MUS campus.

Data Warehousing: continue development of database and services to allow student tracking and reporting, including all MUS campuses and also linkages with K-12.

UM-Missoula IT strategic directions
In support of its mission and vision, UM IT has established four primary IT strategic directions for UM-Missoula.

Enterprise Implementation Systems: development of and support for Banner and related enterprise class applications

Network Connectivity: development of and support for state, regional, and national networking, and leadership in extending services to non-campus sites in Montana

Applications System Infrastructure: development and support for applications critical in supporting students, faculty, and staff

Classroom and Instructional Technology: development and support for technology used in delivering educational services
